As a seafood fanatic, I always enjoy the place to wander about the food paradise in New York. With endless varieties, I have been able to visit plentiful restaurants that serve some of the freshest seafood one can get anywhere. Here are my top choices for the best seafood in New York City.
1. Lure Fishbar: A Soho Gem
It sits squarely in the middle of Soho, and Lure Fishbar has become one of my regular haunts for a seafood fix. The minute you step inside, you'll be immediately welcomed by a chic nautical theme that puts you instantly in the mood for fresh fish. Their raw bar is however something special - they offer rotating oyster selections that I just cannot resist. And if sushi is your thing, like it is mine, then you must adore their world-class sushi program. Don’t forget the lobster roll and the salmon tartare-have to try them, they are legends!
2. Lobster Place: A Unique Market Experience
For a true seafood experience that is, of course, totally unique, go no further than Lobster Place at Chelsea Market. Imaging walking in and being surrounded by a lively atmosphere filled with the smell of fresh seafood. Their seafood counter serves everything from steamed lobsters to a fantastic raw bar. I cannot sing enough praises of their New England clam chowder; it is rich and creamy, just the right treat for a chilly day. And the lobster rolls? Pure heaven.
3. Luke's Lobster Brooklyn Bridge Park: The Lobster Roll King
Luke's Lobster in Brooklyn Bridge Park is the home for the best lobster roll in NYC because there's something special about enjoying tender, fresh lobster meat and viewing the East River. It's a lovely spot for having an easy time out with your friends or family. I do remember sitting there, taking bites of that lobster roll, and soaking in the sun-drenched glory of it all; definitely the highlight of my seafood adventures in NYC!
4. Brooklyn Crab: Fun and Flavor
Brooklyn Crab is located in Red Hook. It is more like an experience than a restaurant only for fine dining and still much fun playing games and just enjoying the seafood there with friends. The best lobster rolls and crab legs that I ever tried were there. They never failed, I can say outdoor seating make this a perfect spot for summer gathering.
5. Penny: Intimate Elegance
When I'm in the mood for something a little more intimate, I end up going to Penny in the East Village. They serve the city's best seafood in such a cozy setting; their silky oysters, shrimp, mussels, and scallops can easily turn any night into an exceptional experience. Add to that their caviar tin, paired with sparkling wine-it's just indulgence of the finest kind!
6. Sailor: A Hidden Gem
This seafood restaurant, under the helm of chef April Bloomfield, serves refreshingly creative versions of old favorites. Located off the beaten path in Fort Greene, it's a little hidden gem that truly is worth visiting for. I love coming in and trying it’s inventive dishes like smoked arctic char and braised squid. Every bite is an adventure in flavor!
7. The Fulton: Stunning Views and Seafood
The Fulton in the Seaport is the best place if you desire to dine with a picture-perfect view and incredible seafood. The very first time I stepped into the place, I was amazed at the breathtaking views of the East River and Brooklyn Bridge. They offer only wild seafood including caviar, oysters, and even whole steamed lobster on the menu. It is perfect for a romantic dinner or special occasion.
8. Seamore's: Casual and Fun
If you want something super casual and familiar, Seamore's is a chain that does the trick. It has several locations all over the city, so it's great if you just want to grab something quick. Their classics at their fish shack along with seasonal menus will keep things fresh. I love just popping in for their bowl-style dining options, which become pretty yummy and have a really laid-back vibe.
9. Fish Cheeks: Thai Seafood Delight
For a little difference in seafood, I would recommend Fish Cheeks in NoHo. Their yummiest Coconut Crab Curry is actually very big on flavor and gives one a feeling of being bold on their own. Plus, the lively atmosphere and the friendly staff don't make a bad impression on anyone. It's one of those places that make you feel
10. Le Bernardin: A Luxurious Experience
And finally, there is the legendary Le Bernardin. Boasting three Michelin stars, this is a restaurant that embodies luxury in New York City. Every Langoustine, every Salmon Classic-is a work of art in itself. So, if it's some special occasion, or just a desire to indulge in an unforgettable meal that will leave the taste buds singing, you must go here.
And that's
my best picks for seafood restaurants in NYC. Whether you are really craving a
lobster roll or something more daring, this city has it all. Indulging in some
good seafood is definitely one of the best ways to experience the tastes of New
York City; therefore, be sure to check out these amazing spots next time you're
